
Phlebotomist II - Lab Associate (Float)

Position Details
Full-Time Float Lab Associate II – Phlebotomy. Float phlebotomist covering multiple BJC locations across the St. Louis area; day shift 8‑hour shifts between 6:30 am and 5:30 pm, Monday‑Friday; no weekends or holidays. Reliable transportation required.
Responsibilities
Perform venipunctures and urine collections.
Utilize multiple Laboratory Information Systems.
Ensure high‑quality patient care and customer service.
Interpret physician orders and order tests in the appropriate system.
Perform phlebotomy, positive patient identification, and proper collection to maintain specimen integrity.
Sort and process specimens received by the laboratory.
Coordinate simultaneous tasks accurately, including STAT orders and workload fluctuations, prioritizing work to complete within scheduled hours and established turnaround times.
May perform registration, inventory maintenance, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of professional phlebotomy experience.
Expertise in blood draws and specimen collection.
Excellent patient interaction and communication skills.
Experience in phlebotomy, lab technician, lab associate, laboratory, or blood draw is preferred.
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED required.
2 years or more of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate’s Degree.
2–5 years of experience.
Supervisor experience under 2 years.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Phlebotomy certification.
