Position Overview

Structural & Mechanical Inc. is seeking a skilled

Marine Electrician

to support electrical installation, maintenance, and repair work on marine vessels, shipyard projects, and industrial waterfront operations. This role requires strong electrical expertise, the ability to work in demanding environments, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Marine Electricians play a critical role in ensuring vessel systems operate safely and efficiently, including power distribution, navigation, and communication systems.
Key Responsibilities

Install, maintain, and repair

marine electrical systems

including wiring, lighting, generators, motors, and control systems
Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues using testing equipment such as multimeters and diagnostic tools
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
Perform inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure system reliability and compliance
Install conduit, run wiring, and terminate connections to panels, breakers, and equipment
Support integration of electrical systems for new vessel builds or retrofits
Ensure all work complies with marine, electrical, and safety regulations
Document repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities
Collaborate with engineers, welders, and mechanical teams on multi-discipline projects
Provide support for emergency repairs and service calls as needed
Required Qualifications

3+ years of experience in

marine, industrial, or commercial electrical work
Strong understanding of AC/DC electrical systems, generators, and power distribution
Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex electrical systems
Experience reading schematics and technical drawings
Familiarity with marine environments or willingness to learn
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications

Marine electrical experience (shipyard, offshore, or vessel-based)
Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent experience
Experience with navigation, communication, or control systems
OSHA certification or marine safety training
Experience working in confined spaces or industrial environments
Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 50–75 lbs
Comfortable working in confined spaces, heights, and marine environments
Ability to work in varying weather and industrial conditions
