SCC is seeking a full-time
Admissions Specialist
to support newly admitted students through the early stages of the enrollment process and to ensure accurate, efficient admissions operations. This position plays a key role in outreach to recently applied students, transcript evaluation, records management, and support for graduation and commencement activities. The Admissions Specialist collaborates closely with campus partners to promote a seamless, student-centered experience from application through completion.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide excellent customer service to current and prospective students through email, phone, and in-person interactions.
Assist newly admitted students with admissions requirements, including residency documentation, placement, and program prerequisites, and provide clear next-step guidance.
Evaluate incoming transfer credit for course equivalency and communicate results to students and advisors.
Process outgoing transcripts accurately and in a timely manner.
Maintain accurate and confidential student records in compliance with FERPA and institutional policies.
Process admissions documents, residency forms, and other required materials.
Ensure data integrity within the student information system and support continuous improvement of admissions workflows.
Assist with graduation application processing and verification of degree requirements.
Support commencement planning and logistics, including communication with graduates and coordination of related tasks.
Collaborate with campus partners to ensure a smooth and student-centered graduation experience.
Participate in team meetings, training, and process improvement initiatives.
Schedule varies, may include evenings or weekends and may require some travel between campuses.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support admissions and student services operations.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Excellent attention to detail and the ability to interpret academic records.
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with student information systems and standard office software.
Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in admissions, records, or student services within higher education.
Knowledge of transcript evaluation practices and transfer credit policies.
Familiarity with FERPA regulations.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Associate degree or equivalent experience recommended.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Normal office environment with prolonged periods of sitting and computer use.
Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 20 lbs.
Ability to work occasional extended hours during peak periods such as registration and commencement.
