Temporary Building Maintenance Technician (UTemps) – UTemp Pool – MONTOPOLIS RESEARCH CENTER – Weekly Scheduled Hours: 40 – FLSA Status: Non‑Exempt – Earliest Start Date: Immediately – Position Duration: Until Apr 27, 2027.
Purpose
The building maintenance technician ensures that the facility remains safe, functional, and well‑maintained by performing routine inspections, repairs, and upkeep tasks. The role addresses issues with plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems and responds promptly to maintenance requests to support daily operations.
Responsibilities
Perform routine inspections of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) to ensure proper operation.
Conduct preventative maintenance to reduce equipment failure risk; respond to maintenance requests and repair issues promptly; troubleshoot and fix problems such as leaks, electrical faults, or broken fixtures.
Maintain and repair building structures, including walls, flooring, and doors; ensure safety standards and regulations are followed; coordinate with outside contractors for specialized repairs or services.
Keep maintenance logs and records of work performed; monitor inventory and order necessary tools, equipment, and supplies; maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a commercial or industrial building maintenance role. Hands‑on experience with basic plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and carpentry repairs. High school diploma or GED.
Preferred Qualifications
More than 5 years of experience in a similar role; vocational training or certification in an applicable field; ability to read blueprints, manuals, and drawings; basic computer skills.
Hourly Rate
$25 + depending on qualifications.
Work Shift
8‑5, Monday–Friday.
Infrequent on‑call hours for emergencies; typical tasks expected to be completed during regular business hours.
Working Conditions
Attire: blue‑collar work attire, long pants (jeans), shirts, work boots suitable for manual labor.
Use of manual dexterity.
Lifting, pushing, pulling, and standing.
