Overview
We are currently seeking a Mortgage Loan Officer I to join our Osawatomie location, supporting both mortgage lending and consumer loan needs.
Job Summary
The Mortgage Loan Officer I supports the mortgage lending team by assisting clients through the early stages of the loan process. This role is ideal for individuals beginning their career in mortgage banking, with a focus on learning, client service, and regulatory compliance. Ensures that sound banking practices are followed and that all regulations governing lending functions are strictly observed. Expected to deliver customer service as outlined in our “customer pledge” and “customer service standards.
Responsibilities
Client Support & Loan Origination: Assist clients in understanding mortgage options and gathering required documentation.
Client Support & Loan Origination: Conduct initial financial assessments and pre-qualifications.
Client Support & Loan Origination: Guide clients through the loan application and borrowing process.
Client Support & Loan Origination: Prepare credit memos for internal review.
Client Support & Loan Origination: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in CRM and loan origination systems.
Training & Compliance: Participate in training sessions to build product knowledge and regulatory understanding.
Training & Compliance: Ensure compliance with lending regulations and internal policies.
Training & Compliance: Learn and apply ENCOMPASS loan origination software.
Business Development & Cross-Selling: Build a network of professionals and individuals to create a pipeline for referrals.
Business Development & Cross-Selling: Participate in community outreach and events to generate leads.
Business Development & Cross-Selling: Cross-sell other bank products and services as appropriate.
Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in finance, business, or a related field
Strong interest in mortgage lending and customer service
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Willingness and ability to learn ENCOMPASS and other loan systems
NMLS registration or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire
Preferred:
Previous experience in banking, sales, or customer service
Familiarity with mortgage products and lending terminology
Work Days/Hours
In Person: Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. Some Saturdays are required.
