Summary
This role will be responsible for documenting and improving planner–buyer process execution across OEM and MRO value streams. The intern will map current-state workflows from Purchase Requisition (PR) creation through Purchase Order (PO) placement and supplier acknowledgment, identify the “happy path” plus top exceptions, and propose a practical future-state with measurable service levels and a pilot plan.

Process span: Planner–buyer interactions from PR creation → internal review/approval → PO placement → supplier acknowledgment
Process Documentation
Map the happy path and top exceptions (most frequent/high-impact)
Outputs: Standardized artifacts listed under Deliverables
Key Responsibilities
Plan and execute process discovery
Conduct structured interviews and working sessions with planners, buyers, and approvers
Collect sample transactions and supporting documents to validate workflow steps and handoffs
Document current-state processes
Build SIPOC and Swimlane process maps for OEM and MRO
Identify roles, inputs/outputs, decision points, queues, and rework loops
Analyze exceptions and inefficiencies
Capture top exception types (e.g., missing data, approval delays, expedites, supplier non-acknowledgment)
Quantify impacts where feasible (cycle time, touches, rework, delays)
Define future-state recommendations
Propose streamlined workflow(s), clarified handoffs, and standard work
Draft SLAs and decision rules to reduce ambiguity and improve speed/quality
Enable visibility and sustainment
Outline a lightweight dashboard concept (metrics, cadence, ownership)
Create a pilot plan with scope, steps, success criteria, and governance
Communicate progress
Provide weekly updates, manage action items, and deliver an end-of-internship readout
Deliverables (By End Of Internship)
SIPOC (OEM and MRO) defining suppliers/inputs/process/outputs/customers
Current-state Swimlane maps (OEM and MRO), including happy path + top exceptions
Future-state Swimlane maps (OEM and MRO) with recommended standard work
SLAs and decision rules draft (e.g., cycle time targets, escalation triggers, required fields)
Dashboard outline (metrics list, definitions, data sources at a high level, cadence/owners)
Pilot plan (scope, timeline, training/communications, success metrics, risks/mitigations)
Final presentation/readout to Supply Chain leadership and key stakeholders
Qualifications
Enrolled in university coursework toward a college degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or a related discipline.
Ability to work effectively in a variety of projects including but not limited to process revamping and mapping.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with others and be a participative team player.
Competitive Compensation

Pay Range: $18.42/hr to $30.7/hr
