Position Summary
The Staff Accountant – Financial Reporting, Compliance & Technical Accounting plays a key role in supporting the Company’s financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and specialized accounting functions. This position combines traditional general ledger and reporting responsibilities with technical accounting and compliance duties, including certified payroll, 401(k) plan compliance, and accounting for complex areas such as leases, prepaid assets, and company aircraft. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work cross‑functionally with project teams, HR, payroll, and external auditors.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & General Accounting
Perform balance sheet reconciliations and maintain detailed supporting schedules
Review and analyze income statement accounts and job cost reports; provide insights to project teams and management
Prepare timely financial statements for assigned business units and joint ventures
Reconcile intercompany transactions between related entities
Perform monthly bank reconciliations
Serve as an accounting resource for project teams and internal stakeholders
Other duties as assigned
Compliance & Regulatory Reporting
Review and reconcile internal wage and tax reports to ADP reports and filings
Support and/or lead certified payroll reporting compliance for applicable projects
Participate in internal and external audits, including benefit plan and compliance audits
Benefits & 401(k) Plan Administration
Support administration and compliance of the Company’s 401(k) plan
Assist with annual 401(k) audit and related reporting requirements
Coordinate with HR and third‑party administrators on benefit‑related accounting and reporting
Technical Accounting & Specialized Areas
Perform and support accounting for leases (ASC 842), including tracking, reporting, and compliance
Maintain and account for prepaid assets and related amortization schedules
Assist with accounting and reporting for company aircraft
Research and document technical accounting issues and support implementation of new accounting standards
Process Improvement & Analysis
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
Assist with development of reporting tools and analytics to support business decisions
Support continuous improvement initiatives across accounting and finance functions
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related discipline preferred
2–5 years of accounting experience preferred (construction or project-based accounting a plus)
Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and financial reporting
Experience or exposure to compliance reporting, payroll, or benefits accounting preferred
Familiarity with lease accounting (ASC 842) and other technical accounting areas is a plus
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems preferred
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism
Preferred Skills
Experience with certified payroll reporting
Experience with payroll tax reporting
Exposure to 401(k) plan administration or audit support
Knowledge of construction accounting and job cost structures
Interest in technical accounting and process improvement
CPA or progress toward certification (preferred but not required)
Additional Information
Minimal travel may be required for meetings, training, or job site visits
