Public Works Coordinator
to support operations across Engineering, Utilities, Streets/Stormwater, and Maintenance.
About the Role
This position serves as a central coordination point for Public Works, helping streamline administrative processes, improve customer service, and ensure clear communication between departments, stakeholders, and the public. As part of the Public Works team, you will help improve efficiency, accountability, and service delivery in a fast-paced municipal environment.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and support administrative operations across Public Works divisions
Track and route service requests, permits, and internal workflows
Assist with permitting coordination, including right-of-way permits, bonds, and development-related items
Support financial processes including invoice tracking, purchasing documentation, and budget coordination
Maintain records and tracking systems for fleet, facilities, and departmental assets
Serve as the primary point of contact for Public Works inquiries and coordinate timely responses
Develop and coordinate public-facing communication related to projects, service impacts, and City operations
Maintain documentation related to risk management, safety, and regulatory compliance
Support interdepartmental coordination with Planning, Finance, Administration, and other City functions
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in administration, public works, customer service, communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Strong organizational, communication, and coordination skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in municipal government or public works operations
Experience with permitting, development coordination, or infrastructure-related processes
Experience with financial tracking, budgeting support, or procurement processes
Experience with public communication, customer service platforms, or digital engagement tools

Work Environment
This position is primarily office-based with occasional coordination across facilities and project sites. Duties involve sitting, standing, walking, and light lifting (up to 25 pounds), along with frequent interaction with staff, residents, and stakeholders.
