Requirements
Education and Experience:
Completion of tenth grade or higher plus three (3) years of operating heavy equipment, storm water construction, solid waste operations or field operations, including one (1) year of lead or supervisory experience.
Licenses and Certificates:
Texas Class “C” Driver License or equivalent; some positions require Texas Class “A” or “B” CDL; some positions may require Texas Municipal Solid Waste Operator Class A License within one year of appointment.

General Purpose
Under general supervision, monitor and participate in street storm water, solid waste construction, maintenance, repair activities, transportation, and disposal operations.
Typical Duties
Operate and lead work on medium and heavy equipment; safely manage motorized equipment for street, drainage, storm water and public property projects; inspect, clean, perform preventive maintenance and provide technical guidance to crew.
Assist in planning, coordinating and scheduling stormwater construction, maintenance and repair or solid waste management activities; assign daily work orders, inspect job sites for compliance, resolve problems, recommend solutions and coordinate with contractors, utilities and city/state inspectors.
Respond to service requests and emergencies; investigate sites, determine remedial action, report to superiors, notify personnel and organizations, perform emergency service on roads or storm water facilities and ensure proper barricades and warning signs.
Execute miscellaneous duties to support department objectives; substitute for supervisors or coworkers during absences, assist in training and orientation of less experienced employees.
Supervise assigned staff; schedule, assign, guide, monitor work; review activities, prioritize and coordinate activities; evaluate performance; enforce rules, regulations, work standards; conduct interviews and recommend personnel actions.
