Summary/Objective:
The Safety Technician I inspects work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with company, state and federal safety policies and regulations. This position will work to create and enforce a culture of safety. Responsibilities also include H2S, Confined Space, Air Assist, Permit Writing and Vertical Rope Rescue.

The Safety Technician I inspects work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with company, state and federal safety policies and regulations. This position will work to create and enforce a culture of safety. Responsibilities also include H2S, Confined Space, Air Assist, Permit Writing and Vertical Rope Rescue.
Essential Functions
Provide support to all Standard Safety & Supply employees and customers.
Supervises field safety compliance by ensuring that Standard Safety & Supply is fulfilling safety policies as well as the policies of our customers.
Responsible for knowing and applying county, state and federal DOT compliance requirements, as applicable.
Inspect working conditions to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, as well as Standard Safety & Supply and customer requirements.
Collaborate with managers to monitor compliance and identify safety issues.
Intervene in unsafe activities or operations.
Requirements
Must be 21 years of age or older to operate a company vehicle and must be able to pass a motor vehicle record check and drug & alcohol screen.

Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office

Preferred:
Associate Degree in Occupational, Health & Safety sciences or minimum of 1-year experience in Environmental, Health and Safety position; technical writing a plus
Strong time management, organizational skills and strong attention to detail
Ability to anticipate needs, be resourceful and use sound judgement and tact
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities
Work Environment
Work is conducted in both indoor office settings, and outdoor jobsite settings. Environmental conditions will vary.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb, type, carry up to 40 lbs, pushing and bending. May be required to occasionally work at heights and in confined space.
Position Type/Expected Hours Of Work
This is a full-time position. Willing to work different shifts and travel up to 80% of the time.
Travel
Travel to various worksites is required.
