Bookkeeper/Payroll Specialist
TNT Accounting Services, LLC, Chesterfield, MO, United States
Core Hours: Monday–Thursday, 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM, and Friday, 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM EST
Flexible scheduling within core hours — work any 15 hours across the week, including the option to work three days per week.
The Role
The Bookkeeper & Payroll Specialist owns the complete monthly accounting cycle for an assigned portfolio of clients. This role processes payroll, reconciles accounts, manages compliance filings, and keeps every client’s books clean and current, so the firm’s owner can stay focused on tax work, advisory services, and business development.
This is an in-office role based in Virginia. We are looking for someone ready to take ownership from day one, who monitors deadlines without being asked, identifies issues before they escalate, and brings the kind of quiet confidence that comes from genuinely knowing their craft. If you’re good at what you do and you’re looking for a place that will trust you and give you the space to do it, this role is built for you.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the end-to-end monthly bookkeeping cycle for an assigned portfolio of 15–20 clients, from transaction entry through monthly close.
Process and run client payroll accurately and on schedule — weekly, biweekly, or monthly — using Gusto and/or QuickBooks Online.
Verify payroll reconciliation between Gusto and QBO each pay period and resolve any discrepancies accurately.
Ensure all payroll filings are submitted on time, including monthly and quarterly 941s.
File annual W-2s and Workman’s Compensation reports for assigned clients.
Follow up with clients for missing documents and information to keep work on schedule.
Prepare and submit business license renewals and SEC filings as assigned.
Handle special client reports using Excel or other provided software as needed.
Utilize Financial Cents to manage all assigned tasks, track time, document client communications, and keep task statuses current.
Save and organize all client documents in ShareFile using the firm’s established naming conventions.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Takes Ownership: Naturally takes full responsibility for their portfolio, enabling leadership to focus on advisory work and client relationships. Proactively monitors deadlines, identifies issues, and sees every task through to accurate completion.
Works with Autonomy: Brings confidence and initiative to their work. Manages their own workload with discipline, raises flags early, and finds solutions before small issues become big ones.
Technically Skilled: Brings proven experience with QuickBooks Online (intermediate to advanced), Gusto, Financial Cents, ShareFile, Drake Software, and Google Workspace. Bookkeeping and payroll are where they do their best work.
Systems-Driven: Embraces established workflows as the foundation of great client service. Diligently manages tasks in Financial Cents, organizes documents in ShareFile, and understands that a consistent process protects everyone on the team.
Professionally Confident: Represents TNT Accounting with warmth and professionalism in every client interaction. Understands that in a boutique, client-facing office, every team member contributes to the firm’s trusted reputation.
Communicates with Clarity: Keeps leadership informed, asks for help early, and ensures work moves forward with transparency. Comfortable being the point of contact for assigned clients and handling routine matters independently.
What We Offer
Classification: U.S. W-2 Employee
Pay: $17–$32 per hour, depending on experience
Position: Part-Time: 15 hours per week, with opportunity to grow

Paid Time Off: The firm provides 11 recognized paid holidays and accrued paid time off (up to 1 week per calendar year)
