Maintenance Technician

PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Maintenance Mechanic performs preventative, maintenance, and repairs of large manufacturing equipment (hydraulic, pneumatic, conveyor, etc.).

RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines, including cleaning, oiling, lubricating, and changing belts as necessary to ensure machines are in optimal working condition.

Identify the root cause of unexpected breakdowns of machines; repair quickly and efficiently to decrease machine downtime.

Record and report damaged, worn, or broken parts, and order and install replacement parts for machines as needed.

Prepare reports documenting work performed.

Clean, organize, inventory, stock, and otherwise maintain shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies as needed.

Coordinate with managers to schedule regular maintenance on machines.

Collaborate with department heads regarding new products being added and required modifications.

Make necessary modifications and conduct test runs; confer with the product manager regarding test results and implement additional alterations to machinery as required.

Identify opportunities for improvement, present them to the appropriate leader, and implement, lead, or participate in solution implementation.

Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in all areas where mandatory to promote a zero‑accident culture.

Perform additional relevant duties as assigned.

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES
None. This is an individual contributor role with required competencies: Functional/Technical Skills, Action Oriented, Problem Solving, Learning on the Fly, and Interpersonal Savvy.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS

High School diploma or equivalent.

Vocational certificate in an appropriate field (e.g., welding, maintenance, electrical, etc.) preferred.

Ability to take and pass internal required testing.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Mechanically inclined with relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.

Ability to read and understand schematics and blueprints to diagnose problems with manufacturing equipment.

Good computer literacy with the ability to enter work records in the appropriate program.

Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization in a timely and professional manner; multilingual strongly preferred.

Ability to handle and resolve most issues efficiently and effectively.

Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize projects, planning skills, and a high attention to detail.

Must possess a strong customer‑centric attitude, high energy level, and a strong sense of urgency.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs.

Wear required protective equipment in all areas where mandatory.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to work extended shifts (holiday, weekend, and/or extended) as business need requires.

Ability to work in cold/humid or hot/dusty environments as needed.

Prolonged periods of standing, walking, crawling, stooping, kneeling, etc., with the ability to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery.

Must be able to visually inspect machines.

Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
