Job Description
Position Summary:
Before school, after school and/or Saturday tutoring for identified students addressing English language arts, math, science and social studies. Tutoring schedule to be developed at the school level by the school leadership team.
Reports to:
School Principal
Education, Certification and Experience:
Valid Maryland State Teacher Certification (preferred)
Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
Terms of Employment:
Position is grant‑funded. Pay rate is based on the 2025‑2026 Workshop Pay and Special Pay for Employees.
Evaluation:
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the policy on evaluation as established by the Calvert County Public Schools.

September 2025 – December 2025

$42 to $42 per hour
Legal and Background Requirements
State law requires that anyone hired after October 1, 1986, who will have contact with school children, must be fingerprinted and submit to a criminal background investigation. Federal law requires that a new employee must complete the Employment Eligibility Verification (Form I‑9) in person before beginning employment. Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a drug screen.
House Bill 486 – Child Sexual Abuse and Sexual Misconduct Prevention Statement
Pursuant to Section 6‑113.2 of the Education Article, Annotated Code of Maryland – House Bill 486 – Child Sexual Abuse and Sexual Misconduct Prevention, all applicants are required to report all former employers in which they may have had direct contact with minors. Applicants must submit the contact information of the current, all former school, and all former non‑school employers, as well as organizations where they volunteered, coached, mentored, or tutored minors.
