POSITION
The

HOST

provides the first point of contact to Asia live for all guests, through the coordination of all reservations to the dining room by phone, email or in person. Greets and assists all guests at the hotel/restaurant entrance, assists in seating, menu presentation and or event check-ins. Coordinates with all managers and service staff essential details of patrons in the dining room and hotel.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Welcome guest and staff with a warm welcome.

Always practice Asia Live values, friendly and appropriate, active listening, warm welcome, 10/5 rule, smile and eye contact.

Greet and/or acknowledge guests arriving within 30 seconds. If a delay is anticipated, it is communicated to the guest with an apology and an offer of additional services, i.e.: light beverage while waiting or reading material to keep them occupied.

Seat restaurant patrons by escorting them to assigned table, pulling out chairs, placing napkins on their lap and handing guests the menus. Guests are never to be seated at a table that is not fully set and ready for service.

Present menus, engage in polite conversation, create a personal dining experience, answer questions, and offer information on all menu items and beverage items and offerings of Asia Live and venues.

Answer the phone in accordance with Asia Live standards.

Accept reservations for the Restaurant and the Private Dining Room, by taking the following information: name of the host, time, number of people in the party and phone number as well as Credit Card number if appropriate.

Be knowledgeable with regards to operating hours of all food and beverage outlets, any promotions/events.

Learn and be familiar with VIP reports and Asia live environment.

Prepare a seating assignment before each meal period, considering special requests of guests and preferred needs of regular guests. Present this to all restaurant staff in the pre‑shift meeting. Advise manager of any VIP’s.

Walk through the dining room to ensure guests are satisfied; answers questions; advises servers and bus persons of any specific service needs.

Handle any guest request or complaints within reason or refers to Manager on shift if needed.

Maintain work area in a professional manner.

Ensure that noise levels in all areas are kept to a minimum.

Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

2+ years relative hospitality management experience

Some knowledge of Open Tables, CRM tools, and restaurant level management systems

Good communication and leadership skills

Passionate about the Hospitality Industry and Guest Relations

Good written and verbal communication skills

Pro‑active and able to work and make decisions without supervision

Strong character, Good problem solver, Flexible schedule – Some late nights will be required.

Ability to create strong rapport with staffs, members, and guests

SKILLS/APTITUDES

Excellent communication skills (verbally interacts with management, servers, team members and guests.)

Professional writing skills.

Ability to accept constructive criticism and work calmly and effectively under pressure.

Must visually scan restaurant for clean, unoccupied tables.

Judgment and Decision Making.

Excellent organizational skills.

Multi-task oriented and self‑motivated.

Strong guest service orientation.

Identify and resolve problems quickly and efficiently.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to speak and hear, vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Constant standing, and walking.

Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).

Be able to reach, bend, stoop.

Be able to lift up to 40 pounds.

Regularly required to use hands and frequent washing of hands.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment usually is moderate to loud.

The employee may be exposed to the risks associated in attempting to resolve issues with difficult guests.

Work flexible hours that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights and/or holidays.
