Years of Teaching Experience and Starting Pay Rate

0 to 3 years = $25 per hour
4 years = $30 per hour
5 years = $35 per hour
Responsibilities

We teach kids with special needs, such as: ADD & ADHD, Anxiety, Autism Spectrum (verbal
onverbal), Down and CHARGE syndrome, Sensory integration issues, Auditory processing disorders, Amputation, Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, Spinal cord injury, Obesity, and any other disability.
Conduct adaptive US Paralympic swim lessons for individuals or small groups of all ages and skill levels
Create and implement lesson plans tailored to the needs and abilities of each student
Teach proper swimming techniques, including strokes, breathing, and water safety, in accordance with the US Swimming Association and US Paralympics Committee
Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to help students improve their swimming skills using the Growth Mindset approach
Ensure a safe and positive learning environment for all participants
Monitor and manage student behavior during lessons
Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance
Requirements

Previous experience working with students, preferably in a swim instruction or coaching role
Strong swimming skills and knowledge of various swimming techniques; current or former competitive swimming experience required
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles, for cognitive and physical disabilities
Knowledge of behavior management techniques for working with children
Background check may be required
Qualifications

Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification
Current or former Competitive Swimmer (High School or College)
Knowledge of water hazards, pool safety, first aid and appropriate safety precautions and procedures
Ability to analyze situations, react appropriately, remain calm and efficient in caring for problems
Successful water skills test prior to hire
Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential functions; visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the ability to act swiftly in an emergency; ability to tolerate high humidity and exposure to chlorine.
