Utility Locator

identifies, locates, and marks the location of subsurface utilities in order to minimize accidental damage or disruption of service due to construction excavation activities. Must be familiar with industry standards, policies, guidelines, and procedures. Responsibilities
What you’ll do:

Perform utility locating in support of telecom construction projects by accurately identifying and marking underground utilities, including fiber, electric, gas, water, and other existing infrastructure, in accordance with blueprints, locate tickets, and designated project plans

Operate locating equipment and related tools to complete accurate locates across various terrains and work environments, including urban, suburban, and rural job sites

Support projects locally throughout Wisconsin (approximately 50%) and travel as needed throughout Minnesota, Wisconsin, and surrounding areas (approximately 50%) based on project needs

Maintain company vehicles, locating equipment, and tools in accordance with service requirements, preventative maintenance schedules, and safety guidelines

Communicate locate results, site conditions, and potential conflicts with field leadership and construction crews to support safe, efficient project execution

Assist field crews as needed with telecom construction activities, including placing fiber, conduit, and other project support tasks

Support crew productivity while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and damage prevention

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications
About You:

1–2 years of utility locating, telecom construction, or underground utility experience

Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record for the past 3 years; CDL Class A preferred

Current DOT medical card or ability to obtain one

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plat maps, and utility plans

General knowledge of underground utility locating and construction practices

Strong ability to rise early, work independently, and use sound judgment in the field

Commitment to safety, quality, and damage prevention

Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and overtime as needed

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical field work, including bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in confined spaces

High school diploma or GED preferred

Travel Details:
Monday through Friday travel expected.

Per diem 5 days a week.

50+ hours per week. Overtime applies after 40 hours per week. Work is weather dependent.
