Job Overview
The Event Services Technician supports events and operations at the Civic Center by maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organized facility. Responsibilities include setting up event spaces, assisting customers at the front desk, supporting event logistics, and providing basic A/V and custodial services. This role is ideal for someone with strong customer service skills who is comfortable with hands‑on work and adaptable to a flexible schedule.

NOTE: Employee may be required to respond to a disaster, either natural or man‑made, to serve the citizens of Statesville and meet the needs of the organization, which may result in the assignment of other duties and take precedence over duties described in this job description. Responsibilities

Performs set-up and breakdown of event spaces , including moving tables, chairs, stages, ramps, and dance floors.

Assists with event planning for room diagram/layout.

Maintains the cleanliness, safety, and neatness of the facility, including mopping, vacuuming, trash removal, and debris pick up.

Works at the front desk performing customer service responsibilities such as greeting visitors, answering phones, handling inquiries, managing reservations, and performing light administrative duties.

Maintains cleanliness of the facility including restrooms, kitchen, event rooms, and surrounding areas.

Prepares snacks, coffee, and drink services for clients.

Provides information, rules/regulations, and assistance on use of the facility.

Provides excellent customer service to patrons, vendors, public, and co‑workers by responding to requests and resolving customer complaints as necessary in a prompt, effective, and courteous manner.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

High School diploma or GED.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of basic safety rules and regulations regarding use of the facility and equipment.

Knowledge of basic methods, materials, and equipment used in facility maintenance work.

Ability to set up and troubleshoot A/V equipment.

Ability to use a tape measure to measure/determine room dimensions.

Ability to interpret and explain rules and regulations regarding the use of the facility.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, supervisors, patrons, and customers.

Ability to communicate ideas clearly, concisely, and effectively, both orally and in writing.

Job Related Physical Requirements
This position involves heavy work requiring the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical activity related to this position may require the use of fingers and hands, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for assembly or fabrication of parts at/or within arm’s length, operation of machines and equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities.

Working Conditions
The employee is not subject to adverse environmental conditions. Employees may be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
