Loan Servicing Clerk I

At First Mid, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of discretionary short‑term incentives, including bonus, incentives, and/or commission. Responsibilities
As a Retail Loan Servicing Clerk I, you will be responsible for providing centralized loan servicing support to the bank’s branches, customers, loan operations, and loan officers. You will perform a variety of clerical functions, including processing paid note tasks, tracking and reviewing all pending loan documents and exceptions, escrow management, and insurance oversight, while providing excellent service to both internal and external customers.

Loan Servicing

Prepare and release liens or titles upon full loan payment, coordinating with relevant authorities and agencies to ensure timely and accurate releases, which may include electronic recording as applicable.

Maintain and organize records of paid loans, including payoff letters, payment histories and related documentation, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.

Communicate with borrowers regarding their loan payoff status and address related questions.

Complete reviews of loan files after closing to ensure all documentation was obtained and liens perfected.

Track, follow up and review final trailing documentation to ensure timely resolution and completion.

Provide exceptional customer service by phone or email to internal and external customers.

Utilize available resources to identify, research and resolve routine customer issues.

Accurately image physical loan documents into the digital imaging system, ensuring all pages are captured clearly and accurately.

Maintain and archive designated original loan documents in the filing system.

Escrows

Maintain and manage escrow accounts for loan clients, ensuring all funds are accurately collected and disbursed for property insurance, private mortgage insurance, real estate taxes, and obtaining supporting invoices.

Coordinate with local tax authorities and insurance providers to confirm payment schedules, resolve discrepancies and update client accounts accordingly.

Assist clients with inquiries related to their escrow accounts, payment and insurance requirements.

Timely communicate with customers or bank staff to provide support for concerns/issues related to escrow.

Insurance

Verify and review hazard insurance policies to ensure they meet lender requirements.

Track and monitor insurance missing policy renewals for borrowers, ensuring policies remain in force.

Communicate with insurance agents to resolve identified deficiencies.

General

Complete required training specific to job responsibilities.

Maintain loan files in a neat and orderly manner.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education / Experience

High School Education or equivalent.

1+ years of clerical or banking experience.

Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office products.

Process detailed information in an accurate, timely and confidential manner.

Handle a significant workload of varying tasks.

High level of interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with the team as well as internal and external customers.

Gain a comprehensive understanding of internal policies and procedures, as well as state and federal laws and regulations governing Loan Servicing functions to ensure compliance upon completion of individual job duties.
