
Packaging Equipment Operator - 12-Hour Nights

Job Overview
Position: Operator – 12‑hour night shift (6:00 pm to 6:30 am, rotating onsite days) at Abbott Nutrition’s Columbus, Ohio plant. The role is within the Abbott Nutrition Division, where the plant is the company’s first manufacturing facility worldwide for science‑based nutrition products.
Responsibilities
Safely operate high‑speed production equipment to manufacture leading nutrition products.
Start up and shut down all equipment according to established procedures and specifications.
Perform minor to major clearing of jams and downtime issues on the line.
Report abnormal equipment function or product problems to the supervisor.
Maintain inventory of packaging materials and complete work order documentation.
Perform quality checks and troubleshoot equipment issues.
Ensure safe operations of all equipment and promptly report incidents, injuries, or safety hazards.
Maintain a clean and safe work area, utilizing 5S cleaning and necessary tools.
Adhere to product isolation procedures, sampling, and proper identification of product status.
Verify product and material identification, correct codes, and expiration dates.
Comply with FDA, GMP, OSHA, and Abbott/Ross regulations, policies, procedures, or guidelines.
Shift & Schedule
12‑hour night shift (6:00 pm–6:30 am) with rotating onsite days.
Example schedule:
Week 1: Sun, Wed, Thu
Week 2: Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat
Qualifications
Minimum
High school diploma or GED.
Prior manufacturing, production line, and/or machine/equipment operator experience.
Ability to communicate line information to production and support personnel.
High level of attention to detail.
Maintain accurate and legible records (Production Counts, Material Usage/Losses, Batch Work Orders) as per company procedures.
Maintain adequate supply of materials to equipment and monitor release timing.
Preferred
Experience working with RF scanners.
