Summary
The qualified candidate for the long-term substitute role will perform duties and responsibilities to ensure that learning keeps moving forward during a teacher's extended absence.
Qualifications
Professional educator's license in the subject area identified.
Knowledge of best practices as it relates to supporting all students' ability to learn.
Strong communication skills.
Honors or AP experience preferred.
English Endorsed 9-12, preferred experience teaching AP Language and Composition.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Instruct students based on subject- or level-specific curriculum; grade assignments and maintain attendance.
Supplement lesson plans utilizing interactive technology as appropriate.
Supervise and ensure safety of students during classroom hours.
Meet with Department Chair on a regular basis and seek mentoring from other departmental staff members.
Maintain the highest level of ethical and professional demeanor with students and staff consistent with district policies.
May need to participate in parent-teacher conferences and/or school-sponsored professional development.
Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and Board policy.
Maintain student confidentiality.
May perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Knowledge and Skills
Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as correspondence, surveys and electronic media.
Ability to write professional communications.
Ability to present information effectively and to respond to questions from individuals and groups.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and community members.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in written form.
Ability to complete mathematical operations and apply concepts of basic mathematics.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to maintain current job skills as directed, especially in technology-related activities.
Ability to perform essential duties with an awareness of school district requirements and School Board policies.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Student staff duties require sitting, talking, hearing, standing, walking, using computer equipment, reaching with hands and arms, typing.
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds such as reference books occasionally.
Work environment typically moderate noise level.
Work tasks are performed at a fast pace.
Work is usually conducted at one job site, with occasional attendance at meetings, conferences, or workshops at other sites as assigned.
