Qualifications
Minnesota K-6 or 1-6 Elementary Education Teaching License or qualification for a Minnesota teaching license.
Native or near native fluency in Spanish (advanced rating under ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines).
English language proficiency sufficient for communication with parents.
Experience in Total Physical Response (TPR) methodology for teaching in an immersion program.
Experience developing lesson plans and instructional materials for an immersion curriculum.
Ability to translate lessons into developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
Experience establishing and maintaining standards of pupil behavior.
Ability to evaluate pupils' academic and social growth and prepare progress reports.
Experience identifying pupil needs, developing strategies for individual education plans, and making appropriate referrals.
Effective communication skills with parents using Schoology, newsletters, phone, email, conferences, etc.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and supervisors.
Professional development through meeting participation, PLCs, coursework, workshops, and seminars.
Technology integration in instruction.
Compensation
Rates can be found in the teacher salary schedule. This position is eligible for medical and dental benefits.
Job Duties and Responsibilities

Demonstrate successful experience in TPR methodology for teaching in an immersion program.
Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction.
Translate lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior for an effective learning atmosphere.
Evaluate pupils' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
Identify pupil needs and make referrals, and develop strategies for individual education plans.
Communicate regularly with parents outside the normal classroom day, e.g., via Schoology, newsletters, phone calls, e-mails, conferences.
Work in a supportive and collaborative manner with colleagues and supervisors.
Maintain and improve professional skills by participating in building and department meetings, PLCs, formal coursework, workshops, and seminars.
Integrate technology into instruction.
Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.
Specific Responsibilities
Collaborate in a fast-paced environment interacting with students, staff, administrators, parents, and the community with multiple requests and concerns.
Support and communicate with other administrators and staff.
Respond in emergency situations.
Know, interpret, and follow school District policies.
Plan and coordinate the work of paraprofessionals and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips.
Provide input to the goal-setting process for paraprofessionals.
Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrated experience in an immersion program preferred.
Demonstrated ability to apply appropriate skills in daily routines.
Demonstrated ability to operate a computer, software, and necessary classroom technology.
