Faculty Employment Opportunity
One or more temporary, part‑time lecturers will be selected from a pool for appointment to Fall Semester 2026 and/or Spring Semester 2027. Teaching assignments may include courses at the Hayward campus, the Concord Center, and/or online. All faculty members are expected to perform their duties within the state of California.

The Department
The Hospitality, Recreation and Tourism Department at California State University East Bay prepares students to graduate as leaders in the field of hospitality, recreation, tourism management and recreation therapy. The program serves 4‑year, transfer, international and non‑traditional students and offers courses in online, in‑person and hybrid formats with experiential learning through projects, event planning, tours, service learning and internships.

Duties of the Position
Part‑time lecturers will teach lower‑division, lecture‑based courses in recreation, hospitality, recreation therapy and tourism. The position involves curriculum development, instructional delivery, assessment, and student advising.
Education and training in hospitality, recreation, recreation therapy, tourism or a directly related field is required.

Rank and Salary
Salary is contingent upon education and experience and will be within the appropriate Lecturer‑Academic Year salary range; the anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.

Appointment Dates

Fall Semester: 08/17/26 – 12/18/26

Spring Semester: 01/19/27 – 05/21/27

Qualifications
A Master’s degree is required to teach lecture‑based lower division courses, with at least one degree (BS or MS) in Hospitality, Recreation, Recreation Therapy, Tourism or a directly related field.

Preferred Qualifications
Management experience in one of the related industries is highly preferred.
