Housekeeper / Public Area Attendant
to join our Rooms team. This is a hybrid position that supports both guestroom cleaning and the care of the hotel’s public spaces. The role is essential to maintaining the overall guest experience, as it ensures rooms are clean, public areas are polished, and the property feels cared for throughout the day.
The ideal candidate takes pride in cleanliness, works with a sense of urgency, and understands that every detail matters in a boutique hotel environment. This person must be comfortable moving between room attendant duties and public area responsibilities based on daily business levels, occupancy, arrivals, departures, and hotel needs.
This is a hands-on role that requires consistency, teamwork, attention to detail, and strong communication with Housekeeping, Front Desk, Maintenance, and hotel leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Guestroom Cleaning
Clean assigned guestrooms according to Hotel Ella standards, including beds, bathrooms, floors, furniture, fixtures, mirrors, windows, and guest-facing surfaces.
Change linens, make beds, replace towels, restock amenities, and ensure each room is fully prepared for guest arrival.
Remove trash, dirty linen, used glassware, and any items left behind by departing guests.
Inspect rooms for cleanliness, damage, maintenance concerns, missing items, or guest-impacting issues.
Report maintenance needs immediately, including lighting, plumbing, HVAC, furniture damage, leaks, broken fixtures, or safety concerns.
Ensure rooms are completed accurately, efficiently, and within the expected time standard.
Follow proper procedures for stayover service, checkout rooms, VIP rooms, early arrivals, and special guest requests.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of housekeeping carts, closets, storage areas, and assigned equipment.
Public Area Cleaning
Maintain cleanliness and presentation of hotel public areas, including lobby, restrooms, hallways, stairwells, elevators, entry areas, outdoor guest-facing spaces, and back-of-house areas as assigned.
Clean and refresh public restrooms throughout the shift, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, counters, floors, trash, paper products, and soap dispensers.
Dust furniture, fixtures, artwork, ledges, baseboards, lamps, and public-area surfaces.
Vacuum, sweep, mop, and spot-clean floors, carpets, rugs, and entryways.
Remove trash and debris from public areas, outdoor spaces, and assigned back-of-house locations.
Monitor high-touch points throughout the hotel, including door handles, elevator buttons, handrails, counters, and shared surfaces.
Ensure the lobby and public spaces remain guest-ready, especially during peak arrival, departure, event, and restaurant periods.
Guest Experience
Greet guests warmly and professionally when encountered in hallways, rooms, elevators, or public spaces.
Respond to guest requests with urgency, professionalism, and a helpful attitude.
Deliver requested items to guestrooms when needed, including towels, amenities, linens, toiletries, or other approved guest supplies.
Respect guest privacy and follow all procedures related to Do Not Disturb signs, occupied rooms, lost and found, and secure guest belongings.
Protect the guest experience by identifying issues before the guest does.
Team Support and Communication
Communicate clearly with the Housekeeping Supervisor regarding room status, completed assignments, supply needs, maintenance issues, and guest requests.
Partner with Front Desk to support room readiness, early arrivals, late check-outs, VIPs, and special requests.
Support the housekeeping team during heavy checkout days, high occupancy periods, events, or staffing gaps.
Assist with linen movement, trash removal, supply restocking, and other housekeeping support duties as needed.
Follow daily assignment sheets and adjust priorities based on hotel needs.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area at all times.
Qualifications
Previous housekeeping, janitorial, public area, or hotel cleaning experience preferred.
Boutique hotel, luxury hotel, or hospitality experience is a plus.
Strong attention to detail and pride in cleanliness.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to follow instructions, checklists, cleaning standards, and safety procedures.
Strong time management and sense of urgency.
Professional appearance and positive attitude.
Must be dependable, punctual, and willing to assist where needed.
Flexible schedule required, including weekends, holidays, mornings, evenings, and peak hotel periods.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, pull, and carry throughout the shift.
Ability to lift and carry housekeeping supplies, linen, trash, and guestroom items as needed.
Ability to push or pull housekeeping carts and cleaning equipment.
Ability to work on multiple floors and move throughout guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas.
Ability to perform repetitive cleaning tasks in a fast-paced environment.
