Job Overview
The Bulk Tank Driver plays a key role in executing assigned driver pick‑up and delivery tasks. This includes receiving, transporting, and delivering raw milk from the milk producers (farms) to the processing plants in accordance with standard operating procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Operate tanker trucks to collect raw milk from dairy farms and transport it to processing facilities, following established routes and schedules while maintaining proper temperature controls and ensuring milk quality during transit.
Conduct pre‑trip and post‑trip vehicle inspections including checking tires, brakes, lights, and tank integrity, performing routine maintenance tasks and reporting any mechanical issues to ensure safe and compliant vehicle operation.
Perform milk sampling and quality testing at farm pickup locations using portable testing equipment to check temperature, bacteria count, and antibiotic residues, rejecting loads that fail to meet quality standards or regulatory requirements.
Clean and sanitize milk tanker compartments using specialized washing equipment and approved sanitizing agents, ensuring tanks meet strict hygiene standards and preventing cross‑contamination between loads and facilities.
Maintain accurate delivery and pickup records including milk weights, temperatures, quality test results, and farm pickup documentation, ensuring proper chain of custody and traceability for regulatory compliance.
Coordinate with dairy farm personnel and facility receiving departments to schedule pickups and deliveries, communicate any quality issues or delays, and ensure efficient milk collection operations while maintaining professional customer relationships.
Min. Qualifications
GED or High School is preferred.
The ability to obtain a NYS Milk Receiver’s license is required.
Valid CDL A w/ Air Brake to include a Tanker endorsement is required.
Working knowledge of NYS DOT standards and safety equipment is required.
