Job Summary
Accurate and timely coordination, monitoring and maintenance of the credentialing (appointment and reappointment) and privileging processes for medical staff members and allied health professionals in compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards, Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules and Regulations.
Essential Functions
Consistently uses an outward mindset and puts forth exemplary effort in accomplishing his/her goals and objectives in a manner that helps others to achieve their goals and objectives.
Processes and analyzes all medical and allied health applications.
Responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the credentialing and privileging database.
Responds to inquiries from other healthcare organizations, interfaces with internal and external customers on credentialing and privileging issues as they arise.
Manages the precepting process.
Maintains the computer database.
Ensures time-limited documentation is current.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma and two (2) years’ experience in acute care hospital medical staff credentialing and privileging.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
One (1) year of college or more preferred. Proficiency with credentialing and privileging processes required. Working knowledge of pertinent policies and procedures, accreditation standards, bylaws, regulations and laws. Ability to analyze and evaluate data, prioritize workload, and pay meticulous attention to detail. Must possess strong organizational skills and be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel software. Strong written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills ,and ability to effectively multi-task are necessary.
Working Conditions
Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.
Physical Requirements
Constantly sit, see/visual acuity, talk/hear. Frequently handle/grasp/feel. Occasionally lift/carry 1 to 25 lbs.
