General Description
The successful candidate will provide Oracle database expertise and administration for the Air Force’s Job Order Cost Accounting System (JOCAS) and the Comptroller Financial Information System (CFIS) at Patrick AFB, FLA and Vandenburg AFB, CA. The role requires a deep understanding of Oracle 12 and 19c, database management, system support, installation, patching, and troubleshooting across multiple instantiations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Support multiple production environments, monitoring daily operations and ensuring high availability of databases and associated applications.
Perform critical Oracle and operating system patching.
Develop and execute PL/SQL scripts, perform data modeling and evaluate database changes based on functionality updates.
Recommend and implement updates to the configuration and design of multiple databases.
Maintain quality control and audit databases for accurate data usage.
Consult with users on database access, resolve data conflicts and inappropriate usage, and ensure proper data loading from external target systems.
Monitor databases and application performance, and perform tuning as necessary.
Specialized Knowledge
Experience in technical environments with web-based applications, Oracle Databases, Windows servers, and UNIX servers.
Hands‑on experience with Oracle EBS database management systems, particularly Oracle R12c and above.
Operations and management support for Oracle Servers, including installation, patches, backups, and performance testing.
Expertise in Oracle critical upgrades, operating system upgrades, quarterly patches, and application upgrades.
Extraction, loading, and verification of data to target databases.
Emergency system service outage troubleshooting.
Database configuration, monitoring, and tuning.
Knowledge of PKI certificates and implementation.
Database backup and recovery.
Engineering performance and availability of solutions.
Experience with Air Force/DoW Comptroller Financial Management processes, procedures, and data.
Maintenance of LOUIS II and Oracle scripts, loading data, and testing with data corrections.
Ad‑hoc query support and regular query maintenance.
Ensuring data integrity, researching user questions about production data, and resolving data discrepancies between source and target systems.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, engineering, or a related field.
Professional Certifications
Active CompTIA Security+ or equivalent certification required.
Clearance
Must possess or be able to obtain a secret security clearance.
Experience
3+ years as an Oracle DBA supporting R12c or higher; experience with Air Force/DoW financial management data is a plus.
U.S. Citizen or Similar
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Skills and Abilities
Experience managing Oracle databases and related services.
