The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent supports the daily management and operations of golf course maintenance, including turf care, irrigation systems, spray applications, and team leadership, working closely with the Director of Agronomy to maintain the highest standards.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary : $65,000 - $75,000, commensurate with experience

Job Purpose
The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent reports directly to the Golf Course Superintendent. Under the Superintendent's supervision, the Assistant Superintendent directs and participates in the maintenance of the golf course tees, greens, fairways, cart paths; supervises maintenance and repair of electric equipment; and performs related tasks as required. The assistant superintendent may serve in the superintendent's capacity during absence.

Duties and Responsibilities

Assist the Superintendent in day-to-day operations of the facility.

Supervise, train, and work with seasonal staff to build a solid team environment.

Prepare and submit weekly employee schedules to ensure efficient use of employees.

Help monitor the course for disease pressure, moisture issues, turf decline, and other pests.

Apply pesticides and fertilizers, calibrate equipment, document applications, maintain inventory, and record notes.

Manage irrigation scheduling, repair, and maintenance of a Toro irrigation system with Osmac controllers and Lynx operation system.

Properly hand-water turf as needed.

Attend and participate in weekly department and other periodic employee and member meetings.

Conduct weekly facility walkthroughs to ensure safety and presentability.

Operate within all guidelines, policies, standards and constraints as established by the organization.

Qualifications

Working knowledge of golf course maintenance for tees, fairways, greens, seeding and maintenance practices, planting, cultivating, pruning, and caring for plants, shrubs and trees; knowledge of fertilizers, soil conditioners, herbicides, pest control methods and materials; drainage control methods; and irrigation systems, including wells, pumps, and automatic controls.

Ability to schedule and supervise maintenance work to achieve efficient utilization of workers and equipment; prepare clear and concise reports; maintain effective employee and public relations.

Possession of a valid driver's license.

May require current state certification or licensing as a pesticide applicator.
