Job Description
McWane Plant and Industrial in Exeter, CA, is seeking an experienced Assembler to join our fabrication and machining operation. This position is responsible for the assembly of small and large valves. This includes but is not limited to the assembly of parts, subassemblies, and components, as well as testing, loading/unloading, and palletizing finished products.
Scope of Responsibilities
Ensuring personal safety and the safety of team members
Assisting supervisors and managers in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment
Wearing appropriate PPE, including fall protection, respiratory protection, hearing protection, and foot, hand, head, and eye protection
Maintaining cleanliness of the assigned work area and a safe and clean work environment
Proactively promoting the McWane Way principles
Preparing work by studying assembly instructions and parts lists and gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials
Positioning parts and components according to work instructions
Verifying specifications by testing products and inspecting quality visually
Assembling products using hand tools and other equipment
Resolving verifiable assembly problems to meet specifications; notifying supervisor to obtain additional resources if needed
Palettizing and getting product ready for shipment once complete
Maintaining a safe and clean working environment by following procedures, rules, and regulations
Maintaining supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory levels; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies
Documenting actions by completing production and quality forms
Contributing to team effort by accomplishing production requirements as needed
Maintaining regular full‑time attendance
Performing all duties as assigned
Work Environment
Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls
Required to communicate both verbally and in writing
Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
Must be able to lift or move up to 10 pounds, frequently up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds
Must meet physical requirements and wear appropriate PPE (steel‑toed/metguard boots, safety glasses, hearing protection)
Must work in dust and fumes
Will be required to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands
Must work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate loud noises
Has some knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance
Requires specific vision abilities: close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus and distinguish color
Must be able to operate a forklift and obtain certification
Qualifications
1–2 years of experience
High school diploma or GED required
Experience as a valve assembler or similar in a manufacturing environment preferred
Attention to detail
Position Requirements
Physical requirements include standing, walking, stooping, balancing, kneeling, reaching, and sitting
Must wear appropriate PPE (steel‑toed boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, mask)
Must work in heat, cold, noise, and vibration
Must work in dust and fumes
Must operate forklifts and overhead cranes
Possible overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands
Must work outside in all weather conditions and tolerate loud noises
Has some knowledge of industrial tools, uses, and maintenance
Hourly Rate
$20.00–$22.00 per hour
