An Animal Care Technician is responsible for the care and husbandry of animals. Technicians will work with a variety of animal species. At all times, technicians must follow Standard Operating Procedures, adhere to all safety and company policies and perform duties assigned by department supervision.
Responsibilities
Feeding and watering of animals
Daily observations of animals
Cleaning of animal cages, pens and/or rooms
Room, pen and cage set-up for animal studies
Equipment set-up and operation
Assist in maintaining inventory of animal husbandry supplies
Maintain accurate record keeping
Capable and willing to work in inclement conditions, including extreme heat and cold weather
Compliance with federal, state, and site regulations and guidelines (USDA, OSHA, GLP, SOP)
Must be willing to work on weekends and holidays
Position Qualifications
Education Minimum Requirement
HS Diploma or GED
Preferred Associate degree in Animal Science, Poultry Science or Biology
Required Experience And Skills
Minimum one year experience working with animals
Must possess strong communication and multi-tasking skills
Must have a valid driver’s license
Be able to lift 50 pounds
Preferred Experience And Skills
Preferred candidate would have ALAT certification (Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician)
