Position Summary
College Computer Science Tutor on the Varsity Tutors Live Learning Platform. Conduct online tutoring sessions for undergraduate students across the United States. Work remotely with a flexible schedule and earn competitive rates.
Responsibilities
Deliver interactive tutoring sessions covering data structures, algorithms, object‑oriented programming, computer architecture, operating systems, database systems, software engineering, discrete mathematics, and theory of computation.
Explain key concepts such as time‑complexity analysis, sorting and graph algorithms, memory management, and software design patterns, preparing students for advanced coursework and technical interviews.
Break down complex problems into manageable steps and guide students through coding exercises, whiteboard problem‑solving, and project‑based assignments.
Adapt instruction to individual student learning styles, pacing, and identified areas of difficulty.
Use the Live Learning Platform’s features to conduct sessions, track progress, and generate lesson materials.
Maintain professional communication and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science or a related field.
Advanced mastery of data structures, algorithms, OO programming, architecture, operating systems, databases, software engineering, discrete mathematics, and theory of computation.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience teaching or tutoring undergraduate computer science students is preferred.
Ability to explain concepts through multiple approaches and adapt to diverse learning needs.
Comfortable with remote teaching technology and the Live Learning Platform.
