JOB SUMMARY:
The Speech Language Pathologist position primarily works with students within the Tuttle School, which serves students ages 5-25 with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our service delivery model emphasizes diagnostic-prescriptive intervention provided in a 1:1 setting or in small groups of two students. With manageable caseloads, clinicians have the opportunity to collaborate regularly with teachers, administrators, and parents to ensure meaningful progress, generalization, and carryover of skills across environments. This position will play a critical role in partnering with the Interim Head of School and the Speech Language Team.
DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES (Including Physical Function)
Commitment to Briarwood’s mission, purpose, and culture
Partner proactively with faculty and administration to support students with different learning styles and teachers in their efforts to advance students with different learning needs
Work with parents, faculty, and division heads when academic concerns arise regarding students
Attend parent-teacher meetings
Participate in conducting new student screenings to determine need for Speech and Language Therapy services
Assist with conducting admission screenings for potential new students
Conduct appropriate testing within a caseload for prescriptive report writing and goal setting
Generate comprehensive goal reports, progress reports, and final reports for students throughout the year
Deliver individualized Speech and Language Therapy services daily to students and document students’ progress
Manage caseloads and schedules
Complete assigned administrative tasks to ensure adequate record keeping
Attend scheduled in-service/faculty/department meetings, including beginning of the school year planning, orientation meetings, and end of the year teacher workday(s)
Attend CEU courses affiliated with The Briarwood School
Follow HIPAA guidelines; maintain code of ethics requirements from state licensure agency and ASHA
Implement a focus on technology use and adoption within the school
Represent the school at educational conferences and associations
Attend all staff meetings and staff retreats
Participate in any accreditation process for the school
Ensure your classroom is clean and orderly
Perform other duties as assigned by the Interim Head of School
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree required. Must hold a valid Texas license from The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) in the field of Speech Language Pathology; must have a valid Certification of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
Experience:
Experience in school setting, independent schools preferred
Exceptionally capable in both written and oral communication
Excellent organizational and presentation skills
Technologically savvy
Proven success at working collaboratively
Physical Abilities:
Maintain physical ability to complete all essential functions and activities of the position.
