Responsibilities
Participate in pre‑admissions assessments for potential residents.
Understand and implement the Fire Safety and Disaster Preparedness Plan and evacuation procedures of the community during drills and emergencies.
Perform admission and periodic reviews on residents for functional and mental abilities.
Review/revise assessments and care plans at admission, periodically per regulation, and at change in resident physical or psychosocial condition.
Assist residents in scheduling medical, dental and laboratory appointments.
Assist physician with resident examination as needed.
Review and transcribe physician's orders.
Administer and document medications in accordance to the five rights: right medication, right route, right resident, right time, and right dose.
Provide medical treatments as ordered by physician.
Monitor resident restorative nursing programs.
Supervise and monitor medications for residents who self‑administer.
Observe residents and report condition changes to physicians, health care proxies, and supervisors.
Support and maintain harmonious relations and communicate with family, visitors and all members of the Health Team.
Understand the resident’s Advance Directives and follow his/her wishes.
Assist resident with meeting their nutritional/hydration needs and document in the Nursing record appropriately.
Monitor meal‑time and nourishments, assist with trays, and help feed residents.
Maintain a safe, clean, orderly, homelike environment for residents.
Answer residents’ call light promptly.
Responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of Nursing care provided on the shift.
Maintain confidentiality of residents’ private health information.
Respond to emergency calls from Independent Living per community policy.
Participate in risk management and quality assurance programs for the entire community.
Qualifications
Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
Current license in the state of Michigan.
Current CPR certification.
