ABOUT THE ROLE
The Safety Coordinator supports CSI field operations by assisting in jobsite safety observations, identifying potential hazards, documenting field conditions, and reinforcing established safe work practices. This role supports compliance with Cal/OSHA Title 8 requirements, CSI’s IIPP, and project-specific safety expectations under the direction of Safety Management. The Safety Coordinator works closely with field supervision, project management, and Safety Management to support a culture of proactive risk reduction across commercial and industrial job sites.

Essential Functions
Field Safety & Hazard Identification
Conduct jobsite walkthroughs to observe work activities and identify potential hazards.
Document hazards, observations, and corrective actions as directed.
Monitor conditions related to Fall Protection, MEWP operations, LOTO, temporary power, and electrical safety.
Verify proper PPE usage and reinforce CSI and owner/client safety requirements.
Reinforce safe work practices and elevate unsafe conditions or behaviors to supervision or Safety Management.
Support implementation of corrective actions as directed.
Documentation & Reporting
Accurately record safety observations, photos, and corrections in KPA Flex or similar systems.
Assist Safety Managers with incident reporting, documentation, and fact gathering under direction.
Track and follow up on corrective actions as assigned.
High-Risk Work Verification
Assist Safety Managers in observing high risk activities including:
Fall Protection Systems
Energized work and LOTO
MEWP and forklift Operations
Confined space preparation (as applicable)
Trenching, shoring, and excavation controls
Document observations and communicate concerns to Safety Management.
Participate in planning or monitoring of higher-risk activities only under direction.
Training & Engagement
Attend and support site safety meetings, toolbox talks, and pre-task planning activities.
Reinforce CSI’s Safety Leadership expectations and promote positive safety behaviors.
Assist with new employee orientations, field coaching, and training when requested.
Collaboration & Communication
Work with foremen, superintendents, and project teams to understand work scopes and identify potential risks.
Communicate observed hazards and safety expectations clearly to workers and supervision.
Escalate unresolved safety concerns to Safety Management.
Program Compliance
Support implementation of CSI’s IIPP, Code of Conduct, SOPs, and site-specific safety plans.
Assist in maintaining compliance with applicable Cal/OSHA Title 8 regulations under direction.
Support audits or inspections led by Safety Managers, Regional Safety Managers, or external agencies.

ABOUT YOU
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Coursework or training in safety or construction preferred
0–3 years of construction or safety-related experience
Valid, insurable CA Driver’s License
Current First Aid / CPR / AED certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
OSHA 30 – Construction (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire) - preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Basic understanding of construction environments and common hazards
Ability to follow direction and apply safety procedures in field conditions
Strong communication skills and willingness to engage with field personnel
Ability to reinforce safety expectations and elevate concerns appropriately
Attention to detail with accurate documentation and recordkeeping
Reliability, accountability, and professional conduct
Ability to remain composed in active and fast-paced work environments
Competency with mobile devices, tablets, and safety management applications
Exposure to construction safety practices or programs (fall protection, MEWP, LOTO, etc.)
Basic awareness of Cal/OSHA requirements
Experience working in construction, electrical, or industrial environments
Familiarity with AHAs, permits, or safety documentation
Development Expectations
Develop working knowledge of CSI safety programs and procedures
Build hazard recognition and documentation skills
Gain familiarity with Cal/OSHA requirements and industry best practices
Progressively support incident investigations and safety audits
Participate in ongoing training and professional development
Physical Demands
Frequently standing, walking, climbing, and bending on active construction sites
Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. of tools or equipment
Comfortable working in elevated locations (stairs, scaffolds, ladders, platforms)
Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions
Regular use of PPE, including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and high-visibility gear
Work Environment
Active commercial, industrial, and renewable energy construction sites
Exposure to noise, dust, moving equipment, uneven terrain, and multiple simultaneous operations
Collaborative team environment with high expectations for communication and safety performance
Frequent interaction with electricians, foremen, superintendents, project managers, and other trades
May work in varying weather conditions: hot, cold, and wet conditions
May occasionally work in areas with large industrial equipment subject to high noise levels and hazardous chemicals

Hourly Rate $38.00-$43.00/ hour (Non-Exempt)
Commensurate with experience, paid weekly. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. CSI reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the selected candidate's qualifications.
