You must have a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (TRS) License active in Utah.

Schedule:

Monday‑Friday (Days are Varied), 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (Hours are Varied)
Compensation:

$22.22–$28.14 DOE

What You’ll Do as a Therapeutic Recreational Specialist

Develop and implement individualized, evidence‑based recreation therapy plans

Facilitate engaging group and individual activities in both indoor and outdoor settings

Conduct assessments and monitor client progress toward treatment goals

Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated, effective care

Complete timely and accurate documentation in the EHR

Contribute to program development while maintaining a safe, supportive environment

Provide services across multiple programs and locations within the agency

May supervise TRT Technicians, interns, or other TRT Specialists

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation/Recreation Therapy (or another bachelor’s with an approved TR emphasis; graduate degrees accepted)

Completed therapeutic recreation practicum

Licensed Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (TRS) in Utah

Knowledge of recreation therapy principles, including the APIED process

Ability to lead therapeutic groups/activities for diverse client needs

Experience in behavioral health settings (outpatient, crisis, or residential) preferred

Strong communication, teamwork, organization, and documentation skills

Understanding of behavioral health conditions, interventions, and safety practices

Valid driver’s license and ability to work in active indoor/outdoor settings

Bilingual (Spanish) candidates may be eligible for a wage differential
