About the Role
The Fruteria Clerk supports the day-to-day operations of the Fruteria (cut fruit) department by preparing fresh-cut fruit, stocking displays, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring compliance with food safety standards. This role is essential to creating a fresh, welcoming environment for customers while modeling Vallarta’s Core Values: customer service, commitment, integrity, respect, humility, and teamwork.

What You’ll Do

Prepare, package, and label fresh-cut fruit according to Vallarta’s Production Tool guidelines.

Accurately record inventory and production, including inter-departmental transfers.

Stock, rotate, and maintain fruit displays to ensure freshness and minimize waste.

Monitor proper food storage temperatures and follow Health Department regulations.

Keep Fruteria tools, equipment, and workstations clean and sanitized.

Follow production schedules set by the Fruteria Lead or Produce Manager.

Greet and assist customers with fresh fruit selections and custom cut-fruit items.

Promote sales using suggestive selling techniques while ensuring extraordinary service.

Build and maintain visually appealing displays with proper signage and pricing.

Communicate supply needs (packaging, utensils, etc.) to the lead or manager.

Support fellow team members and attend meetings/training as scheduled.

Follow all food safety and sanitation policies; ensure safe and clean work areas.

Abide by Vallarta’s company policies and uphold the Nuestra CASA pledge.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

Stand and walk for long periods (6–8 hours/day).

Frequently bend, squat, twist, and reach above/below shoulders.

Use hands frequently for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.

Lift and carry up to 25 lbs. frequently and up to 40 lbs. occasionally.

Work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to perishable products.

What We’re Looking For

Basic knowledge of fruit handling, cutting, and food safety.

Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Basic understanding of English language.

Prior grocery or food retail experience a plus, but not required; on-the-job training provided.

Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Must work a flexible schedule: afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
