DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position provides training in equipment operation and roadway maintenance through hands-on learning and supervised instruction. As a PennDOT CDL Operator Trainee, you will perform the following duties:
Equipment Training:
Learn to operate heavy trucks, loaders, and other equipment used for highway and bridge work
Safety Procedures:
Follow safety rules, use proper protective gear, and report hazards promptly
Manual Tasks:
Use hand tools and power tools to complete maintenance work such as clearing debris and repairing barriers
Operational Checks:
Perform and document pre and post operation inspections and make routine field adjustments
Tool Use:
Install and remove tire chains and correctly handle various controls and equipment
Workplace Awareness:
Assist in maintaining a safe environment for coworkers and the public
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment
Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Telework:
You will not have the option to telework in this position.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Special Requirements:
This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class A or B Commercial Driver Learner's Permit on the first day of work.
This position requires possession of a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations on the first day of work.
