Position Summary
Under general supervision, the Maint Worker – Plumber serves as a skilled technician performing technical functions for the Plant Engineering Department including inspecting, servicing, and repairing plumbing systems and equipment.

Job Duties / Responsibilities

Responds to requests by pager, radio, telephone or other methods of communication.

Performs emergency repairs using proper trouble‑shooting techniques.

Conducts periodic inspections/tests based on pre‑determined priorities and conditions.

Performs scheduled preventive maintenance on equipment as specified.

Maintains logs of inspections, tests, servicing, and repairs as required.

Completes work orders as required.

Participates in and supports a process to improve performance of services.

Qualifying Education, Training, Experience and Licenses/Registrations

High School Diploma or G.E.D.

Valid Texas Driver’s License.

Basic general maintenance skills training and/or minimum two years related experience, including at least one of the following: plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, HVAC, steam plant, metal work, and welding.

Physical and Sensory Requirements

Ability to read, write, and converse in English.

Ability to understand maintenance problems.

Ability to perform lifting (minimum 50 pounds), bending, grasping, fine hand/eye coordination, pushing and pulling, work with hands above head, work on scaffolds, ladders, etc., standing and/or sitting for prolonged periods.

Ability to tolerate high noise levels for prolonged periods.

Ability to tolerate extreme temperatures and humidity for prolonged periods.

Ability to understand and practice safety requirements in work involving exposure to hazardous chemicals, biological materials, dangerous equipment.

Ability to respond to pager, radio, telephone, and other auditory stimulation.

Ability to discriminate color.

Ability to perform basic math functions and measurements.
