
Communications & Control Engineering Technician

About the Role
We are looking for a hands‑on Communications & Control Engineering Technician to support a Communications and Control Engineering group as a dedicated field resource. You will verify device settings, communications, and controllers supporting distribution and energy‑related equipment, including battery storage systems.
You will focus on field deployment, troubleshooting, programming verification, and database maintenance for communication and control devices. You will work with engineers and technical services teams to ensure reliable device operation, accurate data, and communication integrity across multiple field locations.
Key Responsibilities
Begin each workday at a service center (MDC) and receive daily direction from the engineering team
Travel to assigned field locations to install and support communications and control equipment
Verify programming, check controller settings, and update communications systems
Troubleshoot connectivity, controller, and device‑level issues in the field
Support engineers remotely by validating configuration settings and resolving communication problems
Perform database updates and maintenance related to installed equipment
Help with testing, calibration, basic mechanical and electrical repairs, and monitoring of field devices
Document findings, write reports, identify issues, and recommend solutions
Qualifications
2 years of relevant experience in communications, IT, or electrical troubleshooting
Backgrounds may include telecommunications, network support, or electrical panel wiring
Experience installing, troubleshooting, or supporting communication and control equipment
Working knowledge of networking concepts (Ethernet, connectivity, basic firewall awareness)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, with Excel or Access experience
Experience maintaining technical or asset databases
Experience with electrical engineering concepts or distribution systems

Base salary range: $27-31/hr (estimated based on experience).
