
Patient Accounts Financial Services Representative

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Patient Financial Services Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will support patients by helping them understand and access financial assistance options, including internal programs, Medicaid, and Marketplace coverage. This position plays a key role in ensuring patients receive the guidance they need to manage healthcare costs with confidence.
Key Responsibilities
Assist patients with financial assistance programs, including:
Explaining Sliding Fee Discount program eligibility, documentation, and renewal requirements
Communicating application status, patient responsibility, and renewal reminders
Accurately entering and maintaining application data in the Practice Management system
Support Medicaid and Marketplace enrollment by:
Counseling patients on eligibility requirements
Scheduling and assisting with enrollment appointments
Manage incoming calls and voicemails by:
Collecting payments or setting up budget plans
Answering questions related to billing, insurance, balances, and application status
Monitor and respond to the Patient Financial Services email inbox
Review submitted documents and applications
Follow up with patients as needed
Handle department correspondence and returned mail
Route insurance correspondence appropriately
Update patient addresses when necessary
Prepare and send Good Faith Estimate letters
Review upcoming appointments
Collaborate with coding and clinical teams to estimate services
Provide patients with accurate cost estimates
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Strong communication, organization, and customer service skills
Basic computer, math, and data entry skills
Ability to explain complex information in a clear and supportive manner
Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and tact
Preferred/Required Certification
Certified Application Counselor (CAC)
Required within the first year of employment
Must be maintained annually
