Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Experience in food preparation and handling is desired
Ability to read and write English as it pertains to job functions
Must display the ability to communicate effectively with staff, co‑workers, and students
The ability to operate institutional equipment is desired
Valid food handler's certificate or acquire within 30 days of hire
Satisfactory criminal background check
Vision and hearing adequate to exercise job responsibilities in a safe manner
Knowledge of and adherence to all policies, rules, and regulations
Core Job Functions
Demonstrate thorough knowledge of HACCP food safety guidelines and procedures
Prepare, stock, and maintain the serving area and/or assist in food preparation and clean up
Accurately identify a reimbursable meal on the serving line; provide monitoring and guidance to customers to ensure selections meet federal guidelines
Safely operate standard and specialized kitchen equipment, including convection/combi ovens, microwave ovens, dishwashers, air fryer ovens, food warmers, coolers, and freezers
Set up serving line with appropriate serving equipment, utensils, and safety measures
Prepare and cook food according to food safety regulations while following all county and state guidelines
Wash dishes and equipment according to Maricopa County Health Department guidelines
Clean work areas and dispose of garbage daily
Assist the manager in verifying and monitoring HACCP procedures, including temperature, sanitizer, and storage logs
Ensure product quality through visual inspection and adhere to cooking and serving guidelines provided to maintain customer satisfaction
Perform all duties as assigned safely and prudently as directed

Employee must be able to stand and walk constantly on various floor surfaces while performing various duties, including but not limited to push/pull force of up to 100 pounds for various machines.
Employee must stand constantly and walk frequently, lifting items of various sizes, up to 50 pounds. Items over 50 pounds require a second staff member to lift safely.
Employee may rarely be required to climb ladders, to perform various stocking, inventory, cleaning, or maintenance tasks
Employees may be subject to travel, fumes, odors, chemicals, blood‑borne pathogens, workplace restrictions, cold and/or hot temperatures, and loud noises
