Day Kimball Health is hiring for a part-time Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join our Respiratory department in Putnam, CT!
Hours:
24 hours per week
Shift:
Evenings, 3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.
Weekends:
Every other weekend

RRT Job Summary
As the
Respiratory Therapist , under the supervision of the Respiratory Clinical Manager, you will be a vital member of a dynamic team responsible for performing all the duties of a Respiratory Technician; e.g., aerosol therapy, ABGs, oxygen therapy, ventilator care, resuscitations, overnight oximetry. In addition, the RRT will participate in continuing education and department programs as required, e.g., orientation of new employees, etc.
RRT Job Responsibilities
Performs, but is not limited to, all the following respiratory procedures: aerosol therapy, ABGs, oxygen therapy, ventilator care, overnight oximetry, resuscitations; adult and neonatal.
Clinical assessment on all patients on respiratory services with appropriate recommendations to attending or ordering physicians.
Actively participates in department inservice educational programs.
Flexible and willing to rotate shifts or work odd schedules as needed.
Orients new employees and/or students to department as requested.
Participates in department projects and programs as requested.
RRT Education and Experience Requirements
Current AHA Healthcare Provider CPR certification or equivalent within 3 months of hire required.
Currently licensed in the state of Connecticut required.
Certificate of Respiratory Therapy required, Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by NBRC preferred.
RRT Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
An active member in good standing with the AARC.
Reads prescription, draws arterial blood gases, and reviews patient information to assess patient condition and determine requirements for treatments such as type and duration of therapy and medication and dosages.
Determines most suitable method of administering inhalants, precautions to be observed, and modifications which may be needed that will be compatible with physician’s orders.
Sets up and operates devices such as mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems and aerosol generators.
Ability to function effectively under stress, prioritize workload and make appropriate decisions.
Ability to communicate well with physicians, hospital staff, patients and the general public.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to maintain a level of professional confidentiality.
