School Nurse – Norway Intermediate School
Benton Community School District (BCSD) is seeking a school nurse who can be certified LPN, RN, or BSN.
Position Purpose
To provide assessment, screening, planning, intervention, evaluation, counseling, management and/or referrals concerning the health and medical care needs of students for the purpose of minimizing absences due to illness, maximizing educational opportunities, and creating a healthy school climate.
Performance Responsibilities
Works collaboratively with health care providers, students, parents, school district staff and community agencies to ensure access and continuity of care for students.
Collects information about the health development status of students for compliance with state immunization regulations and Board of Education policies.
Performs nursing assessment for students who are ill or injured; applies appropriate theory as basis for providing first‑aid, nursing care, intervention and referrals for those students.
Maintains accurate records and documentation in accordance with state and federal law, and Board of Education policies.
Participates in planning the modification of the school program to meet the special health needs of children.
Participates in faculty meetings as needed.
Attends workshops, meetings and professional development sessions to promote professional growth.
Supervises all medication administration and trains other staff as necessary.
Any other such duties that may be assigned.
Qualifications
LPN, RN, or BSN nursing license required.
Current certification in Cardio‑Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
Salary and work year established by the Board or by the collective bargaining agreement if such exists.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift, walk, push, pull 50–90 lbs; walk long distances, sit for long periods of time, stand for long periods of time; manage and operate medical equipment, medical procedures.
