Position Overview
Ten‑month contract (exempt). 1.0 FTE. Annual rate $54,335 and up depending on experience.

Purpose Statement
To provide instruction with state and district guidelines.

Essential Functions

Plans and implements a program of study meeting the individual needs, interests and abilities of students within the district curriculum.

Uses effective teaching techniques and materials to implement established curriculum goals and objectives.

Creates a weekly written lesson plan describing daily learning experiences, correlated with the aims and/or objectives in the curriculum guide and/or course outline.

Monitors and assesses student progress, providing feedback regularly to students and their parents.

Diagnoses, instructs and evaluates specific student needs and seeks assistance from district specialists as required.

Communicates aims and/or objectives to students in a well‑planned, organized manner using clear and precise language.

Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.

Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing the development of proper student behavior.

Develops and implements reasonable classroom rules of behavior and procedure fairly and justly.

Provides educational experiences that allow each student to develop personal‑social adjustment, decision‑making, positive self‑image and other life skills.

Promotes and follows the adopted school district philosophy, policies regulations and administrative procedures.

Communicates concerns and ideas with colleagues, students, parents and community positively, professionally and ethically.

Assumes legal responsibility for the supervision of students on school property or at school‑sponsored activities.

Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.

Assumes responsibilities assigned by the principal/supervisor (committee work, student activities, supervision, etc.).

Maintains accurate, complete, legible and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.

Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.

Other Functions

Assists other personnel in supporting them in the completion of their work activities.

Job Requirements

Education : Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Continuing professional development specific to job requirements.

Certification/Clearance : Valid Arizona Standard Professional Teacher Certificate. Must possess a valid Arizona DPS Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card while employed.

Experience : No experience required.

Knowledge/Skills :

Learning development: Level E – knowledge in a recognized professional field or technology discipline, bachelor's degree, advanced mathematics, advanced language development, practical systems understanding.

Problem solving: Level 2 – ability to consider and interpret circumstances to choose most effective responses.

Physical skill: Level A – basic physical skill, normal mobility.

Physical effort: Level 1 – minimal physical exertion.

Human relations skill: Level B – patience, verbal communication, harmonious relationships.

Scope of contacts: Level 1 – peers and supervisors mainly.

Performance environment: Level A – infrequent changes or disturbances.

Physical working conditions: Level 1 – generally good.

Accountability: Level B – responsible for independent work output.

Organizational impact: Level 3 – decisions and approvals impact internal systems.
