Purpose
The Lifeguard holds an important position for the City of El Campo. The Lifeguard is responsible for overseeing the Aquatic Center guests, safety and cleanliness. The Lifeguard should be a role model for staff and participants in the swim programs, exemplifying the key characteristics we expect of our employees: compassion, leadership, enthusiasm, accountability and respect.
Experience
Certified in Red Cross Lifeguard Training and First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.
Essential Functions
Essential functions require presence in the workplace on a regular basis. In order to accomplish this, regular attendance MUST be maintained. This information is intended to be descriptive of the key responsibilities of the position. The following examples do not identify all duties performed by any single incumbent. Incumbent is expected to perform other related duties, as assigned.
Communicate regularly with the Aquatics Manager and Lead Lifeguards.
Bring any employee issues or problems to the Aquatics Manager before problems escalated.
Surveillance and rescue skills, First Aid, CPR/AED, back board.
Maintaining proper pool water quality (testing, chlorine, etc.).
Opening and closing the pool.
Cleaning the pool deck so it is free of trash, spills, etc.
Daily AC checklist of pool deck procedures.
Enforce Pool Rules, for example, no running, no diapers in pool, etc.
Teaching swimming lessons.
Additional duties as assigned. (Note: The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning specific duties not listed herein if such functions are a logical assignment to the position.)
