Recreation Leader II

This position assists and supervises Recreation Leaders outside of regular business hours to address park issues needing immediate response. Additionally, the position will assist athletic association programs/activities in the evenings and weekends. General duties include visiting each of Johns Creek's four main parks (Shakerag, Cauley Creek, Ocee, and Newtown), providing supervision of Recreation Leader I's, and handling park facility rentals/5k's/athletics schedule as needed. In frequent contact with the general public and staff, employees must exercise considerable tact and courtesy.

Position Overview
Recreation Leader II responsibilities include overseeing day-to-day operations of athletic fields and park facilities, including supervising participants and programs, assisting special interest groups, and monitoring activities in a variety of areas. Recreation Leader IIs engage and interact with park visitors to answer questions and provide information and serve as a helpful, visible resource to enhance park visitors' experience and enjoyment of the park. They observe and report any issues regarding the condition of park facilities, broken/deteriorating park structures, needed repairs, public concerns/complaints, etc.

What You'll Do

Drive a City Vehicle to patrol the parks regularly to assure compliance with Recreation Leader I, athletic associations, field/park rentals, Commercial Use in parks, etc.

Enforce rental compliance and Commercial Use Permits.

Travel to offsite events.

Provide direct supervision and acts as an on-site point of contact for private special events and tournaments.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

One (1) year of experience in a recreational field.

Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Preferred Qualifications

One (1) year of Supervisor experience.

Work experience in recreation programming, customer service, and special events is preferred.

CPR/First Aid certification preferred.

Special Requirements

Must be 16 years of age or older.

Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record.

Physical Requirements

This role is active and requires physical activity, including standing, walking, and lifting objects up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision abilities are needed, such as close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Appropriate attire in compliance with the City dress code and weather conditions is required.

You'll be working in various weather conditions, so be prepared to enjoy the great outdoors which includes wet, hot, and/or humid conditions.

Competitive Pay

Starting salary: $25.04/hour.

Please note that this part-time position does not include the City of Johns Creek's benefits package.
