Job Overview
The position operates under the Tribal Historic Preservation Office. It is responsible for maintaining financial activities, including processing, coordination, and managing various federal, grant, contract, tribal, and self-generated revenue accounts. Prepare annual reports. Maintain professionalism when responding to phone calls, office visits, inter-departmental matters, and all correspondence. Ensure reports are prepared promptly and accurately to support fiscal audits, including complete financial statements. Possess the ability to classify accounting transactions, maintain and reconcile accounts, close accounts, and prepare financial reports. Assist DNR Administration with entering expenses and reconciling accounts.
Examples of Work Performed
Verifies information to prepare budgets, purchase requisitions, purchase orders, payroll actions, journal entries, and travel authorizations for completeness, accuracy, and proper approvals.
Prepares leave audits and maintains employee records in iSolved.
Maintains electronic filing and records management systems for program reports, sensitive and capital equipment, correspondence, grants, contracts, and general operating information.
Keep precise and current financial records for audit purposes.
Reconciles statements and reports.
Oversees cuff accounting data and verifies expenditures are recorded and tracked accurately.
Makes necessary corrections and adjustments to financial documents that show any inconsistencies or errors.
Review and verify the accuracy of financial data.
Provides a monthly narrative report on tasks performed.
Utilizes experience and expertise to advise and assist subordinates and coworkers.
Responds to inquiries and shares information related to financial and bookkeeping systems.
Collaborates with and supports other tribal staff assigned to the program.
Manages self-funded and contract award funds for multiple DNR programs.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the Yakama Nation's procedures and protocols for employees.
Knowledge of email protocol and chain of command.
Knowledge of annual audit procedures.
Knowledge of tribal procedures and directives of the Yakama Nation, including the Personnel Policy Manual, Finance Manual, and D365 user guides.
Knowledge and proficiency in using D365.
Knowledge of methods, principles, and techniques used in governmental accounting.
Ability to monitor purchase requests from initiation to completion.
Ability to ensure compliance with all accounting principles and federal/tribal guidelines.
Ability to track internal and external deadlines and process documents in a timely manner.
Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships, maintain confidentiality, and perform well under stress.
Ability to comprehend and follow complex oral and written instructions and to utilize available guidelines across diverse situations.
Ability to work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines.
Ability to efficiently scan and file all documents electronically.
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or GED is required.
Experience using D365 and iSolved accounting software.
Must be physically and mentally capable of and willing to work in a fast-paced office environment.
Required to pass a pre-employment drug test.
Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Tribal Driver Permit with Defensive Driving Course certificate (to be updated every 2 years).
Preferred Requirements
