(CCI) focuses on design-build construction and general contracting for building, highway, and infrastructure improvements for federal, state, and local jurisdictions.
CCI is separated into multiple divisions including the Building division, Civil division, Bridge division, Asphalt Paving Division, and Federal division. As a prime contractor, CCI’s work includes a full range of building construction activities and design-build projects. CCI has extensive design-build experience and prefers to pursue project solicitations that recognize safety, quality, environmental stewardship, and performance as the major factors in the contract award criteria.
CCI has a large equipment fleet and self performs all aspects of construction management, site work, utilities, demolition, asbestos abatement, heavy highway, cast-in-place concrete, rough carpentry, installation of divisions 8 & 10 items, and erection of pre-engineered metal structures.
Primary Job Function
Operate asphalt paver that spreads and levels hot mix bituminous paving material on prepared surface.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all federal, state, local and company safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
Light burners to heat screed.
Start engine and control paving machine to maintain constant flow of asphalt into hopper.
Observe distribution of paving material along screed and control direction of screed to eliminate voids at curbs and joints.
Ability to maneuver paver in tight confines to eliminate voids at curbs and joints.
Turn valves to regulate temperature of asphalt flowing from hopper when asphalt begins to harden on screed.
Lift bolt and extensions weighing approximately 70lbs. to screed to adjust width, using hand or pneumatic tools.
Perform daily checks on equipment (i.e., hydraulic fluid level, greasing, oil levels).
Ability to effectively communicate with the crew concerning obstacles in the roadway.
Perform all other duties deemed necessary or assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum two years previous experience.
Experience working in and around construction sites.
Basic knowledge of various grade situations and grade ability to obtain correct drainage.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
