The Non-Emergent Call Taker is tasked with managing non-emergent ambulance calls in accordance with established intake procedures, consistently demonstrating professionalism, courtesy and a strong commitment to customer service while upholding all quality assurance standards.
RESPONSIBILITES
Answering non-emergency calls from medical facilities requesting ambulance transport via recorded phone system.
Collecting essential information from healthcare providers, assessing the needs of the patient based on the details provided, and accurately entering all required documentation into the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
Requesting other service agencies for action as required by system needs.
Making customer callbacks as needed.
Consistently upholding a courteous attitude and clear, efficient communication with both internal and external customers.
Adhering to all company and departmental policies, procedures, metrics, objectives, quality improvement measures and safety standards.
Maintaining professional competency and fostering growth by pursuing additional opportunities within the department.
Maintaining a positive attitude toward customers, visitors and coworkers to support a professional workplace.
Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant equipment and applications, attending meetings, completing required training sessions and actively participating in quality improvement initiatives in accordance with all established standards.
The Non-Emergency Call Taker Must Be Able To:
Be punctual and maintain an excellent attendance record.
Work rotating 12-hour shifts, including every other weekend and holidays if they fall within your scheduled rotation.
Type a minimum of 30 wpm and pass online testing to be considered for an interview.
Sit or stand for long periods of time.
Perform job duties in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
Handle time-sensitive situations on a continual basis.
Demonstrate proficiency in making timely and well-informed critical decisions.
Manage simultaneous responsibilities that require effective multi-tasking.
Efficiently utilize all departmental equipment and technology applications.
See with minimal impairment to utilize all telephony and computer applications.
Hear with minimal impairment to perceive sounds at normal volume levels with background noise.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent.
Open availability to work during the day, night, evening or overnight as described in the previous section.
Ability to read, write and speak English fluently with good grammar and spelling.
Typing skills with the speed and accuracy necessary to efficiently process calls for service.
Medical training and/or telecommunications experience preferred.
