2026-27 SCHOOL YEAR
The Rockwood School District is seeking an outstanding certified K-5 Title 1.A Literacy Coach.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Serve as a coach in Title 1 elementary buildings, working with staff members and building administrators to promote growth for striving readers
Align interventions for striving readers in all settings: classroom, Reading Intervention, ELD, etc.
Develop and facilitate professional learning opportunities for teachers, administrators, and staff (including large group presentations, workshops, small groups, etc.)
Collaborate with individual teachers and teams of teachers to share research-based strategies and instructional methods to support first-best instructional practices
Demonstrate and model effective techniques for literacy instruction and intervention
Work in partnership with all staff involved in educating striving readers in a non-evaluative role to support literacy growth
Maintain confidentiality for all stakeholders
Gather, analyze, and utilize data to monitor progress, inform instruction, and guide interventions
Engage in ongoing professional learning and share relevant research-based strategies, innovative ideas and instructional approaches with colleagues
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Missouri Certification in Early Childhood (grades K-2) or Elementary Education (grades 1–5)
Master’s Degree in Education with Missouri Certification in (Special Reading) Literacy Specialist (K-12)
A minimum of five years of classroom teaching experience (K-5) and at least 3 years in the role of Reading Specialist, providing interventions for students
Experience teaching in a Title 1 school preferred
Competitive salary and benefits.
Starting dates: If new to the district, start date is August 11, 2026. Regular teacher orientation start date is August 18, 2026. 187 Day Contract plus 5 extra days.
Position Type: Full-Time
Any certified Rockwood employee eligible to transfer (180 days contract or more) must submit a TRANSFER application to this posting before the internal closing date to be considered.
Job Requirements
At least 5 years of relevant experience preferred.
Master degree preferred.
Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
