
Business Service Representative

Summary
The Business Services Representative establishes linkages with employers and local businesses, markets the Center services to employers to create job opportunities and job placements for Center participants.
Duties and Responsibilities
Adheres to the mission of SERCO.
Serves as the liaison between employers and the SERCO-operated Workforce Centers.
Promotes the services of the Center to local employers in need of hiring qualified employees.
Identifies and may prepare reports to supervisor on areas that may need intervention.
Consults with area chambers of commerce, higher education institutions, and all local employers regarding economic and employment trends.
Ensures timely data entry of services in Work in Texas.
Responsible for the coordination, development, recruitment, maintenance, and outreach activities to prospective employers.
Conducts outreach and job search workshops for customers and community civic groups.
Coordinates job fairs, hiring events, and other employer-related events for all workforce areas.
Reviews database information to expand employment opportunities available to job-ready customers.
Works with case managers to facilitate the identification of mentors or job coaches for hard-to-serve clients.
Performs other related work as assigned.
Ensures all work orders are entered into the system properly and conducts follow-ups on all open orders.
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Prefer four years of full-time equivalent work experience in providing outplacement or job search services in the public or private sector.
Working knowledge of workforce service programs, including WIOA, TANF/Choices, FSE&T, and Welfare to Work.
Proficiency in the use of computer reporting and database programs.
Education and Experience
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Business Management, Public Administration, Economics, Communication, Social Science, or related field from a recognized 4-year college or university; or
Two (2) years of related experience in providing business services within the workforce system, outside sales, and cold calls experience can be substituted for education.
Training in personnel management is an asset.
Experience with interviewing employers to assess and record information regarding training needs, education needs, employment needs, and labor market trends to fully explore career development opportunities for customers.
Experience in customer job placement and job retention.
Special Requirements
Must possess and provide a valid Texas Driver's License and Automobile Liability Insurance as required by the State of Texas.
Must have access to reliable transportation.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
While performing duties of the job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit for long periods of time; employees must be able to drive for extended periods of time; employees must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and must be able to set up a display area.
Work environment is fast-paced, demanding physically and mentally, and will be in constant communication.
